The simple and professional layout provides a more appealing experience for the visitors.
All pages are written to comply with XHTML 1.0 Traditional Standard to ensure that pages will display properly no matter what browser is used. We also made sure that pages work and display properly across all browsers.
All code is 100% hand coded by the hard-working students on the team*, ensuring that there is no unnecessary HTML code and allowing for the pages to load faster.
Integrating PHP and CSS, allowed us to keep the website uniform and enabled us to easily update the layout.
This year, we completely reworked the organization of the website, by making the content on php pages, which allowed search engines to see different names of each page.
Pages dynamically resize to fit nicely in monitors of any resolution. Every page can be viewed on a window 800 pixels wide and up!
The entire layout and all the content have been optimized, so that they will load faster. All videos were compressed and pictures were resized to ensure viewers would not have to wait for the content to load. Also, images were used minimally in the layout.
Using cookies, we have the capability of allowing visitors to pick the layout of their choice. Sadly, at the moment, a secondary layout is not available. However, this feature allows the webmaster to test out new layouts with the current content and switch between layouts easily. This is also used to display the print view for each page, accessible by pressing the at the top right corner of each page
The purple theme on all our pages reflects the team's color and match our shirts!
A dynamic navigation bar allows all the pages to be clearly organized and easily accessed.
AJAX tab design was used on some pages to display the content in a more organized and interactive design.
We also have a humongous photo gallery with over 3500 pictures, which documents the team's entire history.
We recently upgraded all our videos from Windows Media Videos (wmv) to Flash Videos to allow easier viewing by a wider audience. Almost everyone now has a Flash Player, while not everyone has the most up to date Windows Media Player.
A countdown at the top of each page reminds members of upcoming dates and deadlines.
A random link at the top of each page encourages viewers to explore new parts of the website.
The built in search engine allows easier navigation for visitors.
A guestbook promotes more visitor interaction and allows them to leave us comments.
Our website also includes fun pages such as the "robotics dictionary" and the hidden jokes page, which allow members to express and share their creativity.
