Summer!

Finally, school is over, but robotics has just begun. We are holding trainings all summer. Mechanical is meeting Tuesdays through Thursdays from 1-4 PM in F108. Electrical trainings are on Wednesdays from 1-4 PM in F108

Awards Night

Meeting Friday, May 12 AFTER SCHOOL to vote for who will get the various awards, which will be presented at awards night

Awards Night will be held at Sweet Tomatoes on Tuesday, May 23rd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. All parents and friends are invited to join. Dinner will be free for all members but any guests such as parents will have to pay their way.

We will have a clean-up session Monday afterschool in F108. We will be focusing on organizing our piles of bins, and cleaning up countertops. The meeting should last about two hours, and anyone who participated in the Build is expected to come. A post-mortem will be held Friday, April 7 in F108 AFTERSCHOOL. This is your chance to provide the officers and the rest of the team with feedback on the build period, trainings, competitions, and overall organization. Everyone should attend this meeting, as your feedback is key towards improvement.

Sacramento Regional

The Sacramento Regional is held in the UC Davis ARC (Activities and Recreation Center) Pavilion. Everyone going on Thursday should meet at 5:00 AM in the school's Bus Circle. Everyone going on Friday should meet at 6:00 AM in the Bus Circle. We will be staying at a Best Western close to UC Davis. Everyone going needs to bring enough money for lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be provided.

Silicon Valley Regional

The Silicon Valley Regional is held at San Jose State University in their Event Center. Everyone going on Thursday should arrive there by 8:20 AM and will leave by 8:00 PM. On Friday, everyone needs to arrive by 8:00 AM and leave by 6:00 PM. On Saturday, everyone should arrive at 8:00 AM and leave by 5:00 PM. Members should try and find their own rides to the competition, but if anyone needs a ride email Brij at and he will arrange carpools.

Everyone going to the Regionals needs to fill out this form giving FIRST permission to use pictures and videos of you

The Pit Crew for this year will be:
Thursday: Humphrey, Ashwin, Ashin, Leo, Rosalind, Christine, Chetan, Jaakko, Jeremy
Fri and Sat: Everyone above plus Josh, Garrett, Joon and Manoj

For everyone going to the Sacramento Regional, remember to turn in your money as well as permission slips by by Friday, March 10th. People going on Thursday, Friday and Saturday must pay $110, while people only going Friday and Saturday must pay $70.

Announcements

We will be meeting Mondays and Wednesdays afterschool from 3 to 4:30 starting Monday, March 6th.

Money and permission slips for BOTH Silicon Valley Regional and Sacramento Regional must be turned in to Mr. Shinta in A107 or Mr. Kawanami in F108 by Friday, March 10th!!

There is a MANDATORY meeting for ALL members on Friday, March 10th at LUNCH to pick up T-shirts and take team photos.

Meeting Tuesday at lunch

There will be a MANDATORY meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at LUNCH in F108. We will be passing out permission slips for Silicon Valley Regional (March 17-18) as well as Sacramento Regional (March 24- 25). ALL MEMBERS FROM ALL DIVISIONS MUST ATTEND.

Rules for this year's Build period

  1. If you are caught hindering other peoples'/groups' work or Robotics' productivity, you will be given the option to perform QUIET study. For a second violation you will be asked to go home.
  2. The computers provided during the build are STRICTLY for the use of Inventor, 3DS Max, and Robotics related activities
    • INSTANT MESSAGING and GAMES are NOT allowed on our computers (you may do this in your free time at home)
    • Please do NOT download internet games on Robotics computers

It is highly recommended for you to read the manual, which explains different aspects of this year's game in detail.

Everyone should have a good understanding of the game by Thursday's meeting (1:30 to 6:00 in F108)

2006 FIRST Game Kickoff

Kickoff will be this Saturday, Jan. 7th at 1 PM in F108.
This is a MANDATORY meeting for ALL members.

Snacks during Build Season

During the Build period, everyone gets hungry. We ask you to bring some snacks to share with the team on your assigned week as noted on the Snack Schedule.
